2012 - presidents overview

Ultimate Frisbee in NSW is gearing up for a great year with many events, including National events, to be hosted in NSW.

We are busy in all corners of the state with strong presence in Sydney and Newcastle and growing in Bathurst, Dubbo, Wollongong, Byron Bay and Central Coast. If you are after a weekly fix of Ultimate, there are leagues and pick up games all over the state.

This year there are several tournaments being held in NSW for all levels of ability. Whether you are at high school, university, adult beginners to elite, there is a tournament for you - be sure to check out the AFDA calendar for upcoming events you might like to participate in at http://afda.com/rego/calendar.php

We are excited about Newcastle hosting Opens and Womens Nationals 2012 on the 22-25 April. Players from all over Australia and NZ will be competing in Newcastle. Newcastle Frisbee always run great events and we are pleased they will be hosting the nation on behalf of the Eastern Region.

This is also a big year for Elite Ultimate with many NSW players representing Australia at the World Championships being held in Japan in July 2012. As the NSW representatives in the mens, womens, masters and juniors divisions train for this international competition, we wish them all the best. You have our support!

We are also pleased to offer more support and development at the high school level with several gala days running for both the junior and senior levels. There is also a NSW Juniors State Championships for each division. A large portion of our development officers time is dedicated to the growth of our sport in the high school area and it has been a huge success thus far. Big thanks to the motivated efforts of Dan Rule, our development officer.

Finally, with the success of the Elite Showcase Game and Volunteer Recognition Night 2011, we will be running these events again the year. The Elite showcase game will have a different flavour - perhaps country vs city or north vs south. Suggestions are welcomed, email president [at] ufnsw [dot] com [dot] au

If you are volunteering in any capacity, anywhere in NSW, please let us know because we want to think you for your efforts and support you in any way we can. And if you are keen to be involved as an officer of UFNSW, please contact me. We are always looking for new members to bring new ideas and energy to the mix!

I am excited about another great year of NSW Ultimate and I hope you are too.

Regards,

Nikki Shires
UFNSW President
